Fees and Medicare Rebates
How much does a session cost?
Individual sessions cost $260.
This fee is reflective of the time, professional expertise and individualised support involved in providing psychological care. It is well below the Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended standard consultation fee of $330 for a 45-60-minute session in 2026-2027.
In-person and telehealth sessions available.
Do I need a referral?
You are welcome to make an appointment without a referral. However, if you would like to access a Medicare rebate, you will need a referral from an eligible medical practitioner, such as your GP or psychiatrist.
Mental Health Care Plan
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $149.05 per session, for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year. Your GP can provide a referral and discuss whether this type of support is appropriate for you
Private health insurance
If your private health insurance policy includes psychology or psychological counselling under extras cover, you may be entitled to a partial rebate for your sessions.
Private health insurance policies differ. Please contact your provider directly to confirm your level of cover and any applicable limits or waiting periods.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from my first appointment?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss what has brought you to therapy, and understand what you would like support with. We’ll also talk about your goals and begin developing a plan for therapy that feels appropriate for you.
How do I know if psychology is right for me?
You don't need to be experiencing a mental health disorder or be in crisis to see a psychologist. Therapy can be helpful when you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply wanting to better understand yourself and make meaningful changes.
How long does each therapy session take and how often will I need to attend?
Each session lasts for approximately 50-minutes. The number of sessions depends on your needs, goals and circumstances. Many clients begin with weekly or fortnightly sessions, with frequency adjusted over time as appropriate.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no set number of sessions. Some concerns may benefit from short-term therapy, while others may require longer-term support. We will regularly review your progress and discuss what feels right for you.
Is there a cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice (equivalent to one business day) before your scheduled appointment time. This allows the appointment to be offered to other clients who may be waiting for support.
Appointments cancelled or changed with less than 24 hours’ notice (or less than one business day) will incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the session fee. If you do not attend your appointment without notice, the full session fee will apply.
Please note that Medicare and private health insurance rebates are not available for cancelled or unattended appointments.
